The Great Big Harbour Draw-Off

An open invitation for anyone to pick up a pencil and capture the area as they see it.

This weekend (11th–12th April), Folkestone Harbour becomes the setting for The Great Big Harbour Draw-Off; a relaxed, open invitation for anyone to pick up a pencil and capture the area as they see it.

Whether you’re a seasoned artist or someone who hasn’t drawn since school, the idea is simple: spend some time OFF screens and in the moment. Lapping up everything our seaside town has to give - observing, sketching and documenting Folkestone Harbour in your own way. It’s as much about slowing down and noticing the detail around us as it is about the finished piece.

The event is hosted by Straight Outta Folkestone and local creative That Folkestone Artist, with activity centred around the harbour and shop throughout the weekend. Drawing kicks off from 11 am on Saturday, with participants free to come and go across both days.

Finished pieces can be handed in to the shop in the Marketplace or over at Barney & The Pizza by 19th April. Three winners will then be selected at random, each receiving a family-sized pizza meal.

All submitted drawings will also be showcased on the big screen at Folkestone Harbour Arm’s Goods Yard, turning the harbour itself into an art gallery displaying local talent.

For timings, details and how to take part, visit That Folkestone Artist in The Marketplace.

If you don’t do it for the drawing, do it for the pizza.
