Young Animators Present: Zoom

This year ‘Young Animators Club’ have been working on a film commissioned by the Tunbridge Wells Puppetry Festival. Their film ‘Zoom’ is an animation created through a collaboration of 84 young animators aged between 8 & 18. The young animators designed, built and animated snapshots of interconnected worlds, linked together using infinite zooms, pans and loops.

Young Animators Club is based in Folkestone and works with children and teens from across the district. There are dedicated clubs for young people with social communication difficulties, anxiety conditions and difficulties with social engagement, such as those with ASC and related conditions. The club also recruited animators from Goldwyn secondary school to work on ‘Zoom’ as part of their outreach program and over the summer, ran workshops for young people with Emotionally Based School Avoidance. The young animators chose to work in either stop motion, hand drawn or digitally drawn animation techniques to create their playful scenes.
